True Adventure Never Ends
The new Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES is something special. More mid-range torque for strong overtaking acceleration. A 19-inch front wheel, wearing a 110/80-19 tyre, lower seat height and Showa-EERA™ Electronic Suspension work together to deliver impeccable on-road handling. And, to make full use of the 24.8L fuel tank, a new fairing and screen provide wind protection for those long, enjoyable days in the saddle. Which is just what this bike is built for.
Refined Performance
Two up and loaded you need torque for effortless overtaking. The engine now has 7% more torque through the midrange, thanks to higher compression ratio and optimised intake and exhaust.
All-Day Aerodynamics
We’ve sculpted the new upper fairing to channel airflow around the upper body, reducing fatigue on longer journeys. The screen height adjusts through 5 stages for flexible wind protection.
Advanced Riding Technology
Four default riding modes cover most situations, and you can go fully custom with 2 additional User modes. The DCT option also feature G-Switch, for more direct traction off-road.
19-inch Front Wheel
The new, smaller diameter wheel plus wider 110/80-19 tyre offer increased front-end grip and feel, alongside improved manoeuvrability at all speeds.
6-Axis IMU Control
The Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) measures in real-time the exact riding conditions of the bike for precise management of HSTC, Wheelie Control and Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights and much more.
TFT Touch Screen Display
6.5-inch, full colour touch screen control of a range of features including riding modes, with Bluetooth as well as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® smartphone connectivity for navigation, calls and audio.
Torque Up
We’ve given the OHC liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine 7% more torque, with much stronger performance off the bottom and through the middle of the rev-range. It’s immediately noticeable with the first twist of the throttle. And, thanks to higher compression ratio of 10.5:1, new valve timing and updated intake there’s the same 75kW (101hp) peak power and more in the mid-range. The Throttle By Wire has been updated for even more precise control. And the exhaust is new for improved performance and a richer, more muscular note as revs rise.
Electronic Suspension
With 20mm shorter stroke, front and rear Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa-EERA™) is now standard fit. Which means optimum damping, all the time. For a perfect base setting choose Mid. There’s also Hard, for progressive riding, touring, or carrying a pillion and luggage, Soft for easy manoeuvrability and Off-Road for precise suspension reaction away from Tarmac. User allows total customisation (when stationary) and you can swap between modes – and adjust rear spring preload – while riding.
Confident Electronic Control
7-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) – managed by IMU for smooth intervention – monitors rear wheel traction and gathers up drive on- or off-road. 3-level Wheelie Control gives just the front wheel lift you want, while cornering ABS inspires full braking confidence. Four default riding modes, URBAN, TOUR, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD are set ready but you can go fully custom with 2 USER modes and adjust the levels of Engine Power, Engine Brake and HSTC to personal preference.
Dual Clutch Transmission
You can choose your Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES with six-speed DCT, which equals smooth, instant automatic shifting up and down, great for long distance riding. It’s newly updated, for a natural feel on launch, and at low speeds and shifting performance is fully customisable. Trigger shifters offer manual control, and a press of G switch (on the TFT display) reduces clutch slip, boosting rear wheel traction and feel while riding off-road.
Go Beyond
This bike is built to go long and beyond, and every update makes it big-distance ready. Showa-EERA™ Electronic Suspension offers perfect damping control, and you can swap between modes – and adjust rear spring preload – as you ride. The 19-inch front wheel delivers more front-end grip, alongside lower centre of gravity. Seat height is lower and adjustable, tool-free between 835-855mm and the seat itself has been redesigned, thicker with an 8% larger area, for the extended riding range that the 24.8L fuel tank makes possible. There’s also the comfort of 5-level height adjustable screen, heated grips, practicality of ACC and USB sockets and full connectivity to access your smartphone’s navigation apps.
